Job Description

JOB SUMMARY



The Quality Engineer supports and promotes plant wide quality improvement efforts. Lead and maintain PPAP process and supporting functions. Evaluate and develop improvement techniques. Maintain and report on the quality systems using Process Audits. Works with internal and external customers 



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Analyze quality data (ex. Scrap, re-work, product and process capacities) and work with core plant team to implement corrective measures

  • Communicate in the Plant Quality Meetings  failures which occurred within production and propose corrective actions

  • Verify the effectiveness of the actions defined to solve quality problems

  • Supervise the work of the Inspectors in charge of finished goods final audit

  • Take part in the preparation of customer visits

  • Suggest improvement activities as part of the annual Plant Quality Plan based on historical process issues, trends in quality data analysis , potential problems or future needs

  • Develops and implements quality /environmental system procedures. May perform internal auditing of these procedures as a member of the internal team

  • Engage in process and product improvement projects by working with engineering and production groups

  • Lead the Advanced Quality Planning for engineering changes for existing products.

  • Facilitates quality in all aspects of product development, process development and manufacture for both new and existing products

  • Lead corrective actions within assigned production area.

  • Review and make recommendations for new inspection methods and equipment to assure that  product characteristics are properly measured and assessed

  • Support in the development of FMEAs, qualifications plans, control plans, inspection methods, sampling etc.

  • Maintain AQP documentation in line with process improvement and corrective action activities

  • May supervise and or train hourly employees within Quality Department

  • Support manufacturing in the development of job instructions and procedures

  • Provide support and maintain compliance with all company guidelines, TS16949, ISO14001 and all applicable government regulations and standards

  • Support Quality Management systems in the plant, to profitably fulfill customer expectation s

  • Assume leadership role in driving achievement in Quality Assurance objectives in manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement t, and implementing best practices

  • Interact with all process and cross functional teams to implement necessary quality tools in all aspects of organization such as but not limited to PFMEA, Control Plans Gauge R&R, Equipment , Advanced problem solving and 6-Sigma

  • Support and facilitate structured containment measures with the use of problem solving methods (8D, 5 Why, cause mapping) and implement permanent corrective actions

  • Participate in APQP activities and support new product launch as necessary, including reviewing, procuring, and approving PPAP documentation

  • Perform internal/external audits and manages the corresponding output follow up activities

  • Service as customer/supplier liaison for facilitating problem resolution, technical support

  • Interprets drawings, dimensional requirements and can select appropriate measuring tools to perform measurements as required utilizing micrometer, caliper, height gage, optical comparator and other measurement devices and quality testing equipment

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

  • Maintain customer portals




EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE




•        Bachelor degree in engineering



•        3 to 5 years of experience in a an industrial environment (ideally in the automotive industry)



•        In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques



•        Good knowledge of Program standards, tools and methods



•        Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization



•        Proficient in all basic quality tools i.e. problem solving such as 8D, root causes analysis. 5 Why, Ishikawa, and cause mapping



•        Good oral and written skills in order to develop proper quality documentation




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
