Job Description

Edscha manufactures body components, powered systems, and driver controls for automakers and motor vehicle manufacturers in North America and internationally. Its body components include hinge systems, door hinges, door hinges with integrated door checks, lid and flap hinges, door checks, and sliding door systems; powered systems include rear lids and lift gates; and driver controls include handbrakes, foot-operated parking brakes, and foot controls. The company was founded in 1870 and is based in Remscheid, Germany. It has locations in Remscheid, Germany; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Auburn Hills, MI.

This role is located at the corporate office, and has responsibilities for purchasing groups at HQ, Mexico, and Michigan facilities.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for capital equipment, tooling & purchased components across multiple locations. This position is also responsible to provide support and work with purchasing leads at multiple locations in identifying initiatives to generate opportunities for additional savings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Seeks out and qualifies new methods in support of crib stores, inventory consolidation, and cost reduction.

• Leads efforts to establish optimum inventory levels for procured parts.

• Assists and manages departmental efforts in policy and procedure development.

• Establishes criteria for request for quotes, long term contracts, and supplier guaranteed productivity improvements.

• Participates in contract negotiations for goods and services in national contracts that effect manufacturing locations (not purchased by the customer).

• Leads the development of purchasing measurables and goal-setting for purchasing activities.

• Evaluates vendor performance, cost analysis and comparisons to regularly identify areas of productivity improvements.

• Assists and manages departmental efforts in policy and procedure development.

• Communicates with accounting/finance department regarding supplier credits, rebates, return materials, and supplier charge backs.

• Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.

• Prepares RFQ packages and utilize ERP system to conduct on-line bids for current spend of products and services to secure competitive market prices.

• Works with Internal Customers to understand requirements to ensure proper suppliers are solicited.

• Work closely with all product disciplines to develop and coordinate product negotiations and awards.

• Leads actions to meet productivity corporate initiatives at Edscha NAFTA locations while ensuring coordination and support from the commodity team in Germany.

• Research and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure product quality and cost competitiveness.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline

• 7+ years procurement experience in an automotive manufacturing environment or similarly fast-paced related industry; experience should include managing small administrative team.

• CPM/CPIM certification is a plus.

• Strong experience in negotiation and contract formation.

• Experience with reviewing contracts and negotiating with suppliers.

• Experience in regulatory compliancy policy and procedures in terms of procurement functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of purchasing / accounting processes required.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent computer skills, particularly with Excel.

• International trade and logistics knowledge preferred.

• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.

• Basic cost analysis understanding.
