Job Description

Manages each assigned program with Gestamp Business Unit from award to one year after start of production.  Function as the Champion of each program and be the primary contact person for the customer, engineers, account managers, plants, and suppliers.  Delivers each program, on budget, on time, and meets or exceeds customer quality expectations.


Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assembles and directs the program team to meet all objectives from award to successful launch.
  2. Delivers each program at the quoted engineering change level, both prototype and production, on budget, on time, at quoted rates, and meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
  3. Directs the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) effort in accordance with AIAG published requirements.
  4. Works with Sales Manager & Account Managers on CAPEX for program funding approval to establish a program budget.
  5. Manages and resolves program open issues in a timely manner utilizing an open issues matrix.
  6. Reports program status periodically to Gestamp Forging group and to customer representatives as required.
  7. Manage final stages of tool build and transfer including tooling and equipment buy-off and installation.
  8. Provide facility with pre-production support.
  9. Manage all engineering changes and quoting activity of program.

10.  Coordinate advanced program teams activities with Plant and Troy Launch teams.

11.  Frequent trips which may be for extended periods to McCalla, Alabama will be required.

SHORT TERM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead launch activities on all commodities.
  2. Lead launch activities on new business platforms.
  3. Assist Sales Manager in centralizing systems and procedures of the Business Unit.
  4. Assist Gestamp Business Unit in evaluating CAPEX required for expanding operations to include components & assemblies.
  5. Assist plant/s in any design or processing changes required to reach 20% manufacturing profit goals.
  6. Assist plant/s in implementation of lean manufacturing.  Communicate efforts to account managers and engineers and customers as required.


Job Requirements

 
Education and Experience


  1. A four-year degree in any engineering discipline.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of automotive industry experience.
  3. Experience in systems, suspensions, chassis, and BIW.
  4. Formal training in statistical applications to manufacturing processes.
  5. Personal computer skills with familiarity with word processing and spread sheets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of project management principles.
  2. Understanding of TS principles and requirements, and a commitment to meet all standards.
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, oral and written.
  4. Ability to represent Gestamp in a positive and productive manner under all conditions involving direct customer interface i.e. meetings, quality reviews, customer complaints, on site launch representation.
  5. A dedication to teamwork and management by consensus.
  6. Good leadership skills.
