Job Description

Job Summary


Dynamic position for an individual that will be responsible for all aspects of non-production purchasing, MRO crib daily activities and decision making for a World Class Fast Pace Tier One Automotive Manufacturer.

1.      Ensure the safety of all associates and Team Leader reporting to this position.

2.      Run MRP in SAP daily to initiate parts to be reordered – issue purchase orders thru SAP for required MRO parts.

3.      Follow up/expedite open orders as required with suppliers to insure on-time delivery.

4.      Continued review of supplier pricing to reduce costs where possible.

5.      Email purchase orders to suppliers with request for order acknowledgement.

6.      Make any purchase order corrections (price, quantities, etc.) based on suppliers email acknowledgement.

7.      Review of min/max levels for high usage parts – adjust as needed

8.      Insure new parts are set-up in SAP as requested by maintenance-engineering

9.      Run open SAP MRO purchase order report weekly to follow-up, or close open past due orders.

10.   Process requests to set-up new SAP suppliers for purchase orders.

11.   Enforcement of procedures for tool crib control >issuing all parts from inventory when requested by maintenance and engineering.

12.   Must be able to have the flexibility to work overtime on a daily basis and weekends as required and with short notice.

13.   Insure weekly cycle counts are completed and results given to the Industrial Materials Leader.

14.   Insure crib area – to include fenced areas are kept organized and clean-including 5S.

15.   Insure all items delivered by receiving department, are received correctly in SAP within 24/hrs.

16.   Assist the on-going development of Team Members in the continuous improvement of the MRO crib operations.

17.   Is required to be able to proficiently perform and/or know all job related functions of the MRO Associate Buyer.   

18.   Must be a team player helping to accentuate a positive & productive environment within the department and with all other departments.


1.      Participate in problem solving and resolution to issues within the department.

2.      Visual reporting of operational performance measurements.

3.      Responsible to assist the Industrial Materials Leader with the assessment & development of Team Improvement Goals and purchasing.

4.      Provide overall employee/team development strategies through training, coaching, counseling, and performance measurements.

5.      Help assist with training team members in the application of defined Standard Processes & Procedures.

6.      Required to complete daily, weekly and monthly routine reports as directed by the Industrial Materials Leader.


1.      An Associate’s Degree would be preferable, or have at least 5 years’ experience in an automotive production environment.  

2.      Have a strong training in Safety Work Practices and STOP training.

3.      Must have the ability to work in a Team Based Environment

4.      Effective delegations skills and time management skills.

5.      Prior Inventory and/or MRO crib experience.

Job Requirements


1.      Required to have excellent knowledge & experience with PC based systems Microsoft applications including Excel and Word.

2.      Prior SAP experience would be a plus.

3.      Must have excellent people and oral & written communication skills.

4.      Must have an analytical & creative mind with excellent math skills.

5.      Must be highly organized and keep good records.

6.      Must be able to reason and evaluate different situations with the skill to resolve issues in a timely matter.

7.      Must Handle Physical Demands of MRO crib requirements.

8.      Must have an excellent attendance record.
