Edscha manufactures body components, powered systems, and driver controls for automakers and motor vehicle manufacturers in North America and internationally. Its body components include hinge systems, door hinges, door hinges with integrated door checks, lid and flap hinges, door checks, and sliding door systems; powered systems include rear lids and lift gates; and driver controls include handbrakes, foot-operated parking brakes, and foot controls. The company was founded in 1870 and is based in Remscheid, Germany. It has locations in Remscheid, Germany; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Auburn Hills, MI.  


The MATERIALS MANAGER will Manage, control and direct the operations, activities, and personnel engaged in the Material Planning, Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving, and Production Scheduling.


  • Develop, implement and manage policies and procedures necessary to ensure effective execution of material logistics functions;

  • Create and maintain MRP and material systems that allows for efficient and accurate production scheduling;

  • Maintain inventory levels which meet planned inventory turns. Maintain inventory accuracy through accurate inventory cycle counts, control systems, and corrective actions;

  • Provide for the proper shipping and documentation of finished goods. Assure vendor releases are timely and accurate;

  • Improve in-plant material handling and storage systems;

  • Develop and maintain TS procedures for Materials department.

  • Establish and or maintain effective and accurate communication process to ensure minimal lag from and maximize speed to supply chain members and manufacturing and support team members.

  • Remain current on supply chain related practices, technology and equipment by attending seminars, reading publication and or participating in organizations.

  • Ensure that all essential materials, supplies and services are available and coordinated to meet customer requirements, including preproduction parts.

  • Establishing metrics to measure, monitor and improve supply chain performance including inventory turns, dock to dock times, inventory loss, recycling, etc

  • Champion for Federal, State and local regulations including Powered Industrial Trucks, Batteries and Battery Charging.



Job Requirements

Education and Experience


  • BS degree in logistics/related field or 2:1 ratio experience to education;

  • 10 + years experience in material control and production scheduling;

  • 3+ years experience directly managing material control activities;

  • APIC Certification in Production Inventory Management (CPIM) desired;

  • SAP experience required.
