Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for developing and managing effective and efficient recruiting, staffing and orientation processes and activities for the regional salaried workforce.  This includes:  (i) staffing for the South Charleston facility and assisting the plant Human Resources Managers with recruitment when needed; (ii) the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment, selection and orientation plan for full-time, part-time, contract and temporary employees; (iii) administration of immigration requirements; and (iv) coordination and development of appropriate governmental reporting. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and maintain an effective North America recruitment and selection strategy and establishes effective processes to insure qualified candidates are identified for all salaried positions in North America in a timely manner.  Develops effective and efficient recruiting strategies for each position customized to maximize the number of qualified candidates by coordinating strategy with hiring manager.
  2. Develop and implement recruitment strategies to fill all approved positions in South Charleston.
  3. Review and screen incoming resumes against specific job requirements and refer qualified candidates to hiring managers for possible interviews.
  4. Direct the efforts of employment agencies and search firms including negotiating and controlling employment related fees.
  5. Develop and maintains professional relationships with college, university and community college placement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants.
  6. Coordinate interview schedules for prospective employees and conduct the HR portion of the interviews as necessary.
  7. Provide necessary information to candidates regarding company policies & procedures, benefit plans, company history, company expectations, etc.
  8. Coordinate the compilation of interview feedback and ensure selection decisions are fair and well documented.
  9. Establish appropriate compensation package for candidates and issue written job offers to candidates.

10.  Coordinate relocation and employee transfers as required.

11.  Conduct background checks as required & coordinate pre-employment drug testing activities.

12.  Coordinate a new hire orientation program for all South Charleston based new hires and insure that all required new hire paperwork is completed and filed appropriately.

13.  Coordinate all employment related announcements. 

14.  Research, analyze, prepare and present recruiting and hiring statistics/metrics. Evaluate reports, decisions, and results in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to propose process improvements. 

15.  Develop and conduct training programs for managers designed to improve recruiting and hiring efficiencies and insure compliance with all regulations.

16.  Conduct exit interviews and analyze data and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

17.  Represent the company for any unemployment claims.

18.  Insure compliance with applicable local, state and federal employment laws and regulations.  Maintain records and reports necessary to file all appropriate governmental filings as necessary.

19.  Responsible for benchmarking (internally and externally), developing and implementing continuous improvement of HR practices and policies. 

20.  Obtaining and maintain work authorization for all employees, including, but not limited to:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline or equivalent related HR work experience required.
  2. Minimum of three years Human Resources experience with an emphasis.
  3. Recruiting experience desirable.
  4. PHR or SPHR certification a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Strong knowledge and experience in the area of recruitment and selection and the ability to develop and implement innovative and proactive recruiting plans.
  2. Knowledge of employment law and other governmental compliance regulations.
  3. Ability to communicate well and influence others.
  4. Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
  5. Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  6. Basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages.
  7. Some experience in work visas is helpful.
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work.
  9. Ability to function well in a fast-paced, team environment.

10.  Must be able to manage time independently and determine priorities for self-direction.

11.  Must be flexible, dependable and creative.

12.  Professional verbal and written communication skills.
