Job Description

This position is located at the Customer, BMW, site in Greer, SC

There are 2 positions available: 1st & 2nd shifts.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides guidance and direction with respect to product quality during the manufacturing of stamped metal and robotic welded assemblies as well as process monitoring and support of the plant’s daily management system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Integrity through fair and safe behavior and responsibility for personal health at all times. Wears required PPE and is aware of all safety key points related to the job and work area.

2. Empowered to monitor the work environment for safe working conditions and safe behaviors by others. Takes action as necessary to maintain health and safety of others, provides direct feedback and reports any risk behavior and unsafe conditions to the Team Leader/Manager.

3. By learning through job-instruction-training, develops full skill in the execution of standardized work for each process. This includes thorough understanding and capability to execute all key and knack points.

4. Diligently executes standardized work during all production periods striving always for Excellence.

5. Empowered to maintain 5S in the owned work area.

6. Accountable for monitoring and maintaining the quality level of product, including appropriate audits.

7. Accountable for learning to use tools, fixtures, measurement devices, etc. to analyze and assess functionality and quality of products.

8. Accountable for maintaining measurement equipment, fixtures, and gages. Completes repairs as applicable.

Reports the need for any repairs that requires assistance from the Maintenance Department.

9. Accountable for collecting statistical process control (SPC) data to evaluate actual process stability and identify process changes.

10. Accountable for understanding and explaining Operational Performance Metrics and how their specific job affects these metrics.

11. Documents data obtained during quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.

12. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

13. Accountable for disposing of product requiring rework based on customer specifications and requirements.

14. Accountable for following standard procedures for containment and control of non-conforming product.

15. Accountable for managing product containment activities when necessary

16. Accountable for performing quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

17. Empowered to report weaknesses in standardized work to Team Leader/Manager, particularly those pertaining to product quality; recommends improvements and participates in implementing those improvements if feasible.

18. Accountable for learning the requirements of production readiness checks (Safety, 5S,

Equipment/maintenance/tooling, materials, set up readiness, etc.).

19. As a team member prepares and presents technical/program information to Team Members and Leaders

20. Through self-learning maintains a working knowledge of industry quality assurance codes and standards

21. Team Problem Solving – Participates and provides constructive input for all problem solving activities undertaken by their team and/or supports other Gestamp personnel who have been assigned to resolve particular problems.

22. Accountable for creation of reference master part samples for current production.

23. Trains Team Members and Team Leaders about part history before production facilitating a team learning process.

24. Performs other jobs as deemed necessary and appropriate.

25. Promote quality awareness and behavior.

26. Initiate and implement improvement programs to ensure the customer requirements and expectations are communicated and understood at all locations and on all levels and functions (including training of tools, techniques, and methods to support acceptance).

27. Customer management (External).

28. Lead internal auditor.

29. Continuously monitor quality of our products at the customer site.

30. Primary customer on-site contact for any product quality related issues.

31. Develop and establish a close and strong relationship with customer key contacts.

32. Clearly communicate any potential issues to all involved parties.

33. Identify areas for improvement to product using knowledge of customer operation.

34. Escalate issues to customer following internal escalation process

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High School diploma or GED equivalent

2. Bachelor's Degree preferred

3. Must have the Ability to Work in a Team Based Environment. 

4. Working knowledge of Rockwell tester, calipers, and micrometers. 

5. Working knowledge of SPC. 

6. Understanding of control plan specifications, control methods, frequencies, and reaction plans. 

7. Understanding of plant manufacturing processes. 

8. 5 years minimum experience in manufacturing/automotive industry in a quality engineering role.

15. Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing of welding points

16. Knowledge of sealer check procedures

17. In depth knowledge of standard processes for nonconforming parts and containment processes
