Job Description


Provides manufacturing methods and systems, optimizing utilization of machines, tooling, and equipment, facilities, quality and time production.


  1. Lead in Developing and implementing the Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing infrastructure supporting change at the plant locations using the Gestamp Production System.
  2. Assist in identifying and implementing strategies for improvements in safety, quality, cost and productivity.
  3. Teach the principles of the GPS system, kaizen activities, and strategy deployment.
  4. Assist in the development of the Productivity Roadmap process, and verify its accuracy at all locations.
  5. Track and publish accurate open capacity analysis for all key manufacturing equipment within North America. 
  6. Develop and propose plant layout models using sound industrial engineering and flow concepts.
  7. Facilitates and Evaluates all Continuous Improvement programs and activities.
  8. Assists with cost/benefit analysis of continuous improvement proposals and prioritizes activities. 
  9. Maximizes efficiencies using Lean Manufacturing principles.

10.  Strive to eliminate waste in our manufacturing, launch and related processes.

11.  Meet annual goals and objectives as agreed to with the Director of Operations.

12.  Must be responsive to customer needs and expectations.

13.  Function within established corporate procedures.

14.  Follow up to determine the effectiveness of any new methods introduced

15.  Adhere to Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies.

16.  Understand and follow all required Gestamp Production System standards.

17.  Develop and track plant wide associate training.

  1. Perform additional related duties as assigned by Management.


Participates in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to assure conformance to Quality Systems (TS) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO).


  1. 3-5 years manufacturing engineering experience, with emphasis on metal stamping and assembly. (Preferably automotive related).
  2. Metal stamping and assembly process design and build experience (preferred).
  3. Bachelor’s Degree preferably Industrial Engineering or related experience.
  4. Must have experience with the development of technology for manufacturing, and the application of technology on the shop floor.


  1. Expert knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, oral and written.
  3. Dedicated to teamwork, management by consensus and proactive in finding win-win solutions.
  4. Computer Literate.
  5. Work under pressure.
  6. Ability to travel to manufacturing sites.
  7. Ability to teach and coach the principles developed.
  8. CAD Layout ability.
