Job Description

JOB SUMMARY




The CMM Programmer/Operator will provide primary support for the development and ongoing maintenance of Dimensional Reporting programs and/or templates. This candidate will apply knowledge in multi-dimensional reporting software (Pi-Web, CM4D, FARO SPC, Datamyte) and operating language (Metrologic, CAM2, PC-Demis), working with multi-functional teams to develop a sound dimensional reporting structure. The CMM programmer/operator will generate the appropriate reporting templates and structures as well as taking an active role in the completion of the scheduled measurement cycle through operation of CMM equipment.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




1.     Develop templates, reporting formats, and operating programs to provide accurate dimensional reporting and test structure;


2.     Perform review and evaluation of CMM holding fixtures, component part and assembly inspection fixtures;


3.     Verify reporting software is applicable and in the correct customer requested format;


4.     Perform and/or assist with calibration of inspection fixtures, gauges, holding fixtures, hand held metrology tools, etc. per established schedules;


5.     Verify correct tolerance schemes are uploaded into reporting software;


6.     Perform and/or assist with repair, rework, and modification of existing inspection tools;


7.     Develop appropriate reporting tools for inclusion in the plant calibration recall system;


8.     Validate coordinate points, assist with measurement of statistical control points and significant characteristics;


9.     Develops technical illustrations which may include part and fixture concepts;


10.  Interpret drawings and plots as necessary and demonstrates to ability to identify the appropriate coordinate plane for the measurement plan;


11.  Assist with reverse engineering activities related to corrective actions and/or process improvement activities;


12.  Assist with maintaining gage and fixture pin library;


13.  Develop basic drawings and sketches for replacement pins and components;


14.  Maintain calibration recall database and coordinate activities relating to fixture maintenance, repair, calibration, and certification;


15.  Maintain a clean and safe work environment;


16.  Cooperate with internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, TS, ISO);


17.  Adhere to Team Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures;


18.  Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately;


19.  Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.


Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



1.     High school diploma or general education degree (GED);


2.     A minimum of two (2) years of job related work experience in a production facility as a CMM Programmer/Operator;


3.     Experience working in a manufacturing environment for an automotive OEM supplier a plus. 





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES




1.     Demonstrated ability to utilize formal inspection standards;


2.     Sound understanding of GD&T;


3.     Able to read and interpret 2D and 3D math data models to develop appropriate measurement plans;


4.     Demonstrated ability to mentor team members with the use of existing metrology tools, software, and techniques;


5.     Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;


6.     Machinist background a plus.


7.     Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to perform complex problem solving;


8.     Excellent verbal and written communication skills;


9.     Ability to obtain hilo and crane certifications;


10.  Desire to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment;


11.  Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate;


12.  Ability and willingness to work any shift, as well as overtime, as required to meet business requirements;
