Job Description


The Assistant Quality Manager is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in the evaluation, benchmarking, improvement, design, development and standardization of the plant quality systems by possessing strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills; demonstrating an acute attention to detail, and showing strength in researching and analyzing data in the Quality Department.  The position will also be responsible for directing/mentoring the quality team consisting of Quality Engineers, Weld Techs, Inspectors, CMM lab and Customer Liaisons.


1.   Along with the Quality Manager, represent the quality function on technical support, in conjunction with other internal support groups, regarding issues affecting manufacturing;

2.    Work together with the Quality Manager in Initiating and approving supplier/customer production/process control activities and reviewing for implementation and effectiveness;

3.      Maintain quality control sampling system, procedures, APQP, PPAP and IMDS activities;

4.  Assist in the managing, auditing and the continuous improvements within the IATF 16949 standard as well as Customer Specific Requirements;

5.     Will participate in or conduct internal audits;

6.     Direct Customer and Supplier liaisons for plant quality activities and concerns including scheduled visits;

7.  Assist in establishing and maintaining all quality documents, samples, customer contact, supplier development, production start - up, product launch, and correction of production variances and warrant analysis.

  1.  Responsible for maintaining & communicating customer scorecards, charge back reviews, plant quality related KPI,   corrective action reviews as well as quality scoreboard communication to the plant.

  2.  Travel is required to customer locations in and out of the state of SC.


Job Requirements


1.      Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required;

2.      5+ yrs exp. in Automotive/Mfg. environment  required (Class A experience and metal stamping preferred);

3.      3+ yrs in a Management position of Quality required;

4.      IATF-16949 and AIAG Core Tools experience required; VDA experience a plus;

5.      Electrical or Mechanical product experience required;

6.      Development and implementation of quality systems and standards (FMEA’s, PPAP, control Plans, DVP&R’s, APQP) required;

7.      And world class lean manufacturing implementation experience required.


1.      Strong statistical background and proven problem solving, data analysis, administration, and change management;

2.      Knowledge of Quality Assurance techniques with emphasis on Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Automotive Quality;

3.      Have the ability to be contacted after hours (via company cell phone);

4.      And able mentor and develop Quality staff.
