JOB SUMMARY The SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER interacts with suppliers in developing, maintaining, and improving quality and logistic performance, as well as supporting the company in investigation and resolution of all issues related to the supply base. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage and coordinate the complaint management including clarification problems (quality/logistics) with supplier 8D and evaluation of corrective actions in cooperation with relevant departments 

• Analyze supplier related quality data including reporting and documentation 

• Initiate and comply with the necessary escalations ( for supplier development)

• Setting up and maintaining contacts and relations with the supply base mainly in the quality area

• Clarification of quality problems with the supplier and internal departments in the case of complaints

• Co-ordinate supplier activities to ensure the disposition of non-conforming supplied product is carried out in a timely and effective manner

• Support and organize of containment/external companies 

• Monitoring complaint costs

• Main contact within the plant regarding quality issues of purchased parts 

• Ensure escalation procedures are followed

• Support/Lead supplier quality audit team regarding quality of  purchased parts 

• Ensuring incoming inspection activities are carried out in a time efficient manner 

• Conduct feasibility studies regarding characteristics and optimization of the incoming inspection plans 

• Ensure master samples and working samples are available for supplied product

• Lead/train/support employees in his/her area of responsibility

• Report out on Plant KPIs (complaint cost, PPM, Low performance suppliers and availability to pull data to support Management Review)

• Complete VDA 6.3 Process Audits at Suppliers location

• Support new project launches/change management for supplied components

• Improve processes within the supplier directly impacted by downstream suppliers

• Utilize the PFMEAs to identify detection and prevention improvements within the supply chain

• Any other duties deemed necessary. 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree. 

• 2 to 5 years of professional experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment preferred with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic forming, injection molding technologies, tooling, fixtures and gauges.

• Technical and Quality Certifications are a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques and basic quality tools i.e. 8D, root causes analysis, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and cause mapping

• VDA 6.3 working knowledge

• Good knowledge of Program standards, tools and methods

• Understanding of APQP gate Review development process

• Understanding of FMEA and GD&T

• Knowledge of SAP or similar production systems
